Smith & Haskell Law Firm, L.L.P. is located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This law practice was founded in 1926 and consists of three veteran attorneys and a large staff of support personnel.

Smith & Haskell Law Firm, L.L.P. is located at 218 East Henry Street, in the center of the downtown business district near the federal and county courthouses, the Spartanburg County Administrative Offices, Spartanburg City Hall, and the county library. The firm handles legal matters not only in Spartanburg County but also in the surrounding counties of Greenville, Pickens, Cherokee, Union and Laurens, as well as throughout the state. The firm utilizes state-of-the-art computer systems and technology to meet the needs of its clients in an efficient, timely and cost effective manner.

The firm practices in municipal, magistrate, probate, state and federal courts as well as before governmental administrative bodies. It handles many types of legal matters including, but not limited to, cases involving death and serious personal injury caused by negligence or by defective products; claims for property damage; libel and slander; serious automobile and truck accidents; exposure to toxic substances; contract disputes; commercial, business, construction and insurance litigation, employment issues, South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control regulatory issues, OSHA disputes and administrative law practice before other regulatory agencies.

The firm also has an active practice in the area of health law which includes the representation of hospitals, physicians and individuals in this rapidly evolving and changing area of the law. This representation has resulted in the firm advising and representing individual clients on elder law matters including medicaid planning, alzheimers disease issues, nursing home issues, dementia and mental incapacity issues and on various other legal matters which specifically relate to the elderly client.

The firm's government law practice includes extensive representation of clients, both government and individual, in areas of state and local law such as land use and zoning, condemnation and eminent domain proceedings, fire service issues, annexations, communications, recreation, environmental and law enforcement.

The firm practices extensively in probate court, representing its clients in the probate of estates, the assertion of client claims against estates and the appointment of legal guardians and conservators.

The firm has an active real estate practice and handles all types of business, commercial and residential real estate transactions.

In addition, the firm handles small business formation, transactions involving the purchase and sale of businesses, wills and other general practice matters.
